Multigate transistor
Beginner
A transistor where the gate touches the channel from more than one side, so it has a firmer grip.
Novice
Any MOSFET whose gate controls the channel from two or more sides: double-gate and tri-gate (fin) devices, and gate-all-around wires and sheets.
Expert
Family name for double-gate, tri-gate (FinFET) and gate-all-around MOSFETs. More gated faces shorten the natural length, so the channel can stay undoped and the gate can be shorter for the same SS and DIBL.
Explained in Fins and nanosheets (Transistors).
